Forest School Yard Transformation at Ashbrow School
We began consultation with the forest school teachers and head of the school.
This started with a rudimentary drawing of what they were thinking a collective of ideas.
This is where we began deciding what was possible and what materials would work best.
Also to make the area flow better with the chosen materials. Within the project there was to be four distinct different areas of learning
Reading area
This area was made for reading with artificial grass and natural tree stump seating with rope carry handles.
Mark making
An area just to the side of the reading area was created for mark making with low benches for bark rubbing and drawing etc..
Construction
Then over the dried out pond via rope bridge or round the rubber bound path to an area with resin bound gravel for construction with a low bench again all separated with living top dividers.
Inspection
Last area with artificial wood slices and bark chippings
All these areas had to flow into one another but be separate. So living top barriers were created with peep holes and shelves to create interest in the different areas.
There was a further area created for bird watching .
